Friday, August 14 | Viernes, 14 de agosto — A high risk of rip currents is the main concern today, while elevated heat, wind, fire weather, and marine risks could also affect outdoor plans. Use extra caution at beaches and when boating, take breaks and stay hydrated outdoors, and avoid sparks or flames near dry vegetation. | El riesgo alto de corrientes marinas es la principal preocupación hoy, mientras que los riesgos elevados por calor, viento, incendios y condiciones marítimas también podrían afectar los planes al aire libre. Tenga precaución adicional en las playas y al navegar, tome descansos y manténgase hidratado al aire libre, y evite chispas o llamas cerca de vegetación seca.

Friday, August 14, 2026 — A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 AM to 6 PM AST for much of Puerto Rico, Culebra, Vieques, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. An Elevated Heat Level is expected, affecting most heat-sensitive people, especially those without adequate cooling or hydration. Limit prolonged outdoor activity, drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas, and never leave children, pets, or anyone unattended in a parked vehicle. | Viernes, 14 de agosto de 2026 — Una Advertencia de Calor estará en efecto de 10 AM a 6 PM AST para gran parte de Puerto Rico, Culebra, Vieques y las Islas Vírgenes Estadounidenses. Se espera un Nivel de Calor Elevado, afectando a la mayoría de las personas sensibles al calor, especialmente aquellas sin enfriamiento o hidratación adecuados. Limite las actividades prolongadas al aire libre, tome suficiente agua, descanse con frecuencia en áreas con sombra o aire acondicionado y nunca deje niños, mascotas ni a ninguna persona sin supervisión dentro de un vehículo estacionado.

August 14, 2026 — Elevated fire danger is expected across Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra, and the U.S. Virgin Islands today, particularly between 10 AM and 6 PM AST. Winds of 15 mph or greater, gusts around 30 mph, and relative humidity falling to 55% or lower will combine with dry vegetation to increase the potential for fires to start and spread. Keep flames, sparks, and other heat sources away from dry vegetation. | Se espera un peligro elevado de incendios en Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra y las Islas Vírgenes Estadounidenses hoy, particularmente entre las 10 AM y 6 PM AST. Vientos de 15 mph o más, ráfagas de alrededor de 30 mph y humedad relativa de 55% o menos se combinarán con la vegetación seca para aumentar el potencial de inicio y propagación de incendios. Mantenga llamas, chispas y otras fuentes de calor lejos de la vegetación seca.

[Aug 14th] 8 AM AST Tropical Weather Outlook 🌀 Aguaceros y tormentas eléctricas asociadas con una onda tropical (Invest 92L) ubicada a través del Atlántico tropical central se mantienen desorganizadas. Actualmente, el sistema se desplaza a través de un entorno desfavorable caracterizado por fuertes vientos en la alta atmosfera y aire seco, lo que inhibirá su organización. Por lo tanto, tiene una baja probabilidad de formación tropical durante los próximos 2 a 7 días a medida que continúa hacia el oeste a través del Atlántico tropical. Showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave (Invest 92L) located across the tropical central Atlantic remain disorganized. The system is currently moving through an unfavorable environment characterized by strong wind shear and dry air, which will inhibit its organization.
