Unsettled Weather in the Southeast and West; Unseasonably Hot in the North-Central U.S.; Coastal Impacts Along the East Coast

Thunderstorms and heavy rainfall may produce isolated flash flooding along the southeast Atlantic coast the next several days. The NWS Weather Forecast Office in Tulsa and the Arkansas-Red Basin River Forecast Center will begin providing daily river forecasts for the Verdigris River near Claremore, OK and near Inola, OK, effective November 1, 2016.

Forecasts are currently only produced for this stretch of the Verdigris River when flooding is expected or occurring.  Starting November 1, a forecast will be issued once daily in the morning, with more forecasts issued throughout the day during times of flooding.  No new action is required by users to receive the daily forecasts.  This change will help maintain safe operations along the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System between Oologah Lake and the Newt-Graham Lock and Dam 18.
