Lingering Winter Weather in Interior New England; Snow Squalls Developing Downwind of the Lower Great Lakes

A wintry mix will continue in interior New England through tonight as a coastal storm quickly passes to the east. Heavy snow is expected in northern Maine, with a coating of ice expected for much of interior New England. The NWS Weather Forecast Office in Tulsa and the Arkansas-Red Basin River Forecast Center will begin providing daily river forecasts for the Verdigris River near Claremore, OK and near Inola, OK, effective November 1, 2016.

Forecasts are currently only produced for this stretch of the Verdigris River when flooding is expected or occurring.  Starting November 1, a forecast will be issued once daily in the morning, with more forecasts issued throughout the day during times of flooding.  No new action is required by users to receive the daily forecasts.  This change will help maintain safe operations along the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System between Oologah Lake and the Newt-Graham Lock and Dam 18.
