Near record to record high temperatures are forecast for southeast Arizona heading into this weekend through early next week. High temperatures are expected to top out in the mid to upper 80s to low 90s. While temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s are common for the middle of May, they are potentially dangerous to human health in the winter when we are no longer acclimated to hot temperatures. Practice heat safety by hydrating early and often, limit outdoor activity during the warmest part of the day, wear light clothing, and take plenty of breaks in air conditioning.
Breezy northwest winds are expected this afternoon and evening, especially through portions of Greenlee, Graham, and Cochise counties.
Well above normal temperatures will continue through the week across southeastern Arizona. High temperature records will likely be broken Friday through the weekend.
