Snow accumulated 5 to 12 inches over most of the eastern half of South Dakota, with the 12-inch report from Winner. Ten to eleven inches of snow was reported at numerous places, including Sioux Falls and Platte in the southeast and Summit in the northeast. Numerous accidents were caused by snow and ice, including one that killed a man and injured two women on Highway 12 near Bath, South Dakota. There was some undetermined crop damage, and livestock loss was feared as the late-season cold and snow lowered disease resistance.
