Heat in the Central U.S.; Heavy Rain Possible for South Texas; Monitoring Erin Tropical Impacts

Hot temperatures are forecast over the Plains and into the lower Mississippi River Valley Friday where Heat Advisories have been issued. Heavy rain from a disturbance in the western Gulf could bring flooding to south Texas. Erin could bring tropical storm conditions and heavy rain to Puerto Rico and the USVI this weekend with dangerous surf and rip currents impacting the western Atlantic Basin. Read More >

Weather History - May 2nd

May 2nd, 1984:

High winds picked up a trailer home northwest of the Pierre Airport and hurled it through the air, smashing it to the ground 50 yards away. The upper sections of a home were damaged by the airborne trailer. Several branches and shed roofs were also damaged nearby.

May 2nd, 2008:

A two-day blizzard dropped two to four feet of snow across the northern Black Hills, Harding, and Butte counties. Six to 14 inches of snow fell along the eastern foothills and western Perkins and Meade counties.
