Heavy Rain in the Appalachians and Central Gulf Coast; Heat Continues in the West; Monitoring the Tropics

Heavy to excessive rainfall over the southern Appalachians and portions of the central Gulf Coast may bring areas of flooding today. Hot temperatures are in place through today across much of the western U.S. and New England. Telephone Line Maintenance Impacting Some NWS Fairbanks Services Oct 13-15th

 

Telephone line maintenance in Fairbanks will impact some services provide by the NWS Fairbanks forecast office. The maintenance is expected Tuesday through Thursday Oct 13 to 15th.

The first outage will be Tuesday night/Wednesday morning from 11pm-7am. Services that may be impacted include:

  • NWS NOAA Weather Radio WXJ81 in Fairbanks
  • NWS NOAA Weather Radio WXJ62 in Nome
  • NEXRAD Weather Radar in Fairbanks (Pedro Dome) and Nome.
  • Telephone lines to the NWS Fairbanks forecast office.

The 2nd outage will be Wednesday night/Thursday morning from 11pm-8am. This may impact:

  • NWS NOAA Weather Radio WXJ62 in Nome
  • NEXRAD Weather Radar in Fairbanks (Pedro Dome) and Nome.
  • Telephone lines at the following Weather Service Offices: Barrow (Utqiagvik), Kotzebue, McGrath, Nome
