Heavy to excessive rainfall is expected through tonight across portions of the central Plains. Areas of intense rainfall amounts could support increasing flooding concerns. Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible across parts of the central/southern Plains today and tonight, with large hail and damaging winds the main threats. The severe thunderstorm risk continue into Sunday, with the best chance of seeing a severe thunderstorm along the western and northwestern Panhandles. Chances for severe thunderstorms will spread east across the Panhandles later on throughout the evening hours. Large hail and damaging wind gusts will be the main hazards.

While we are expecting storms in the south this afternoon to early evening, the main concern for flooding due to excessive rain is more focused in the northern Panhandles as storms in eastern CO this evening are expected to become more of a cluster and expand across the northern Panhandles tonight. Severe weather will also be possible with this cluster of storms.

UPDATE: Initial convection may begin over portions of the southern Texas Panhandle, but later tonight a line of storms will develop and move in from New Mexico and Colorado. Thunderstorms are expected to linger into the overnight hours as they continue eastward, so the later timeframes are valid for the northeastern Texas Panhandle and eastern Oklahoma Panhandle.
