Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. 1998

A cluster of thunderstorms moved across Wayne county during the evening hours. Spotters reported rainfall rates of over two inches in less than an hour. The torrential rains resulted in flooding of low-lying areas near Lyons.

2000

Thunderstorms brought heavy rains to parts of the Finger Lakes Region and Genesee Valley dropping two to three inches of rain. In Henrietta, Monroe county, West Henrietta and Jefferson roads had to be closed due to the flood waters. In the city of Rochester, police closed Romona Street, Mt. Read Boulevard, and Lexington, Driving Park and LaGrange Avenues. In Byron, Genesee county, the flash flooding inundated roads, washing away a portion of the shoulder. A bean field was washed away.
