1959

Heavy thundershowers (0.68 inch in 8 hours at the airport during the morning) were accompanied by a small tornado at Celeron near Jamestown which caused damage to a boat house and recreation park estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars range. A two inch fall of rain in 75 minutes was recorded in Colden.

1978

Thunderstorms struck Niagara Falls uprooting trees and knocking down power lines. A funnel cloud had been reported with the storms. In the aftermath of the storms, little fish were found strewn on the lawns of Van Rensselaer Avenue.

1996

Thunderstorms moving across the southern portion of Monroe county produced torrential rains. Several roads in Chili were flooded and had to be closed until sewers could handle the storm runoff.

In addition, thunderstorms with very heavy rain moved over the same portions of eastern Wyoming County during the evening hours. The storms produced over two inches of rain. Several roads in Castile were closed due to flooding.

2001

Severe thunderstorms crossed Allegany county during the afternoon hours. The high winds downed trees and power lines in Belfast. Several houses were damaged and two cars were flattened. A girl was struck by a falling tree limb. The injury was minor, requiring stitches.
