Western New York Weather History

MARCH 10

1986

High winds across western New York caused scattered minor damage and power outages. On the 10th, a peak gust of 72 mph from the west at 6:15pm was the highest peak gust recorded during any March since the gust recorder was installed at the observatory at the Buffalo Airport. The high winds stripped scores of bricks from an old building on Genesee street near Michigan avenue, forcing police to close a portion of Genesee to traffic.

1994

Low pressure moved from Western Pennsylvania across Central New York to Northern New England. The snow brought a mix of snow and sleet to Western New York. Through the northern portions of the area, slightly colder air resulted in more snow than sleet and amounts of six to eight inches were recorded. Specific reports included: Westfield 10"; Lockport 8"; and Watertown and Tonawanda 7".
