1989 Circulation around low pressure north of Georgian Bay brought strong winds to portions of western and central New York. Nearly 50,000 homes and businesses were without power. Trees and signs were downed across the area. In Cheektowaga, Erie county, a roof was blown off a mobile home. Reported gusts included: 81 mph at Jamestown; 63 mph at Buffalo; 61 mph at Niagara Falls; and 59 mph at Oswego.
