Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall Across the Central Plains and Central Appalachians

Severe thunderstorms producing damaging winds, heavy rainfall, hail and possibly a few tornadoes will continue through tonight across portions of Kansas and Oklahoma. Heavy rainfall will persist across the Central Appalachians through tonight, potentially leading to areas of flooding. 1970 

A series of thunderstorms crossed western New York. Lightning strikes destroyed two homes...one in Franklinville, Cattaraugus county...the other in Barrie, Orleans county. At the airport, 1/4 inch hail fell and ½ inch in East Aurora. Waterspouts were sighted over Lake Erie adjacent to Chautauqua county. 

1993

A brisk southwest flow was funneled down Lakes Erie and Ontario. The resulting damaging winds downed trees and power lines and poles in parts of Niagara, Orleans and Jefferson counties. Scattered power outages resulted.
