Above Normal Temperatures, Strong Thunderstorms, Tropical Development Being Monitored

Well above normal temperatures are forecast to shift from the northern Plains through the Northeast U.S. over the long holiday weekend. A few strong to severe thunderstorm will be possible as well along with a potential for excessive rainfall. High winds at the Small Boat Harbor in Buffalo resulted in 24 crafts being sunk or damaged by the wind whipped waters. At the Buffalo Airport, a peak gust of 45 mph was recorded.

2001

A line of thunderstorms crossed Jefferson county during the early afternoon hours. Jefferson county Sheriffs reported power and phone lines down by the thunderstorm winds in Henderson.
