Modernized Open Waters Forecast for the Great Lakes

Feedback requested on this experimental format - Survey Link

Full Product Description Document

Please compare the new proposed/experimental version of the Open Waters Forecast with the current format.  The modernized open waters forecast will be presented in a tabular form and open up the opportunity for inclusion of extra marine variables.  The current version has a text format and includes the coded MAFOR/Maritime Forecast.  These are some of the notable differences, but please compare the products below and provide comments with this survey.

1/3 OF THE WAVE SPECTRUM. OCCASIONAL WAVE HEIGHT IS THE AVERAGE OF
THE HIGHEST 1/10 OF THE WAVE SPECTRUM.

Open Lake Forecast for Lake Erie
National Weather Service Cleveland OH
957 PM EDT Sun Jun 16 2019

For waters beyond five nautical miles of shore on Lake Erie

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest
1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of
the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS... A stationary front will linger south of the lake
overnight. Weak low pressure 29.80 inches will move along the
front on Monday and push the front south, as high pressure 30.00
inches attempts to build from the north over the Great Lakes on
Tuesday. However, low pressure 29.80 inches returns over the Ohio
Valley on Tuesday preventing high pressure from reaching the area
until Wednesday. A stronger low pressure of 29.50 inches may
develop across the Midwest and move across the lake on Thursday.
