Prolonged, Intense Heat Wave; Excessive Rainfall in the Southern Rockies and Central Plains into the Upper Midwest

Extremely dangerous heat persists through Thursday with widespread daily temperature records. Monsoonal moisture continues to bring heavy rain and flash flooding to New Mexico and west Texas through Thursday, especially in the burn scar areas. This is the 13th warmest meteorological summer to date in Duluth. The average temperature from June 1st through July 24th was 64.5 degrees.  The warmest such period was in 2012 with an average temperature of 67.8 degrees.
