Flooding Threat in Parts of Texas and New Mexico; Heat in the Western U.S.

Heavy to excessive rainfall across parts of central Texas into southern New Mexico may bring areas of flooding into this evening. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Hot temperatures are forecast for the far southwest U.S., parts of California, and the interior northwest U.S. this week. Read More >

Freezes Still Possible!

Many gardeners in the Northland take the extended Memorial Day weekend to get some gardening in. But, climate experts with the Midwest Climate Center  say that while many areas across the Central U.S. have passed their latest last 32°F freeze date, some have had freezes as late as June in past years! 

With outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center favoring below-normal temperatures for many in the central U.S. in the coming weeks, a freeze isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility for the Northland.
