Coastal Threats for the East and Gulf; Record Warmth for the Central U.S.

Persistent onshore flow across the Southeast and portions of the mid-Atlantic will keep the risk of rip currents through the weekend. Rainfall could be locally heavy across Florida, especially along the eastern shoreline. Meanwhile, record warmth for portions of the Plains and Midwest with elevated fire concerns. Do you notice a yellowish hue to the sky on Monday? Believe it or not, it's from massive forest fires in central and northern Canada! With northwest winds today, the smoke was carried southeastward into the Northland. The smoke is far up in the atmosphere and you may not even be able to smell it, but it is causing the yellowish hue to the sky. Do you see it where you live?
