Arctic Air Mass Lingers for Areas of the East; Critical Fire Weather for the Plains; Active Weather Pattern for Hawaii

Arctic air lingers for the east, however, winds will slowly subside and a slow moderating trend starts during the week. Moisture continues to provide rainfall and higher elevation snow for the Pacific Northwest, northern California and northern Rockies through Monday. Do you notice a yellowish hue to the sky on Monday? Believe it or not, it's from massive forest fires in central and northern Canada! With northwest winds today, the smoke was carried southeastward into the Northland. The smoke is far up in the atmosphere and you may not even be able to smell it, but it is causing the yellowish hue to the sky. Do you see it where you live?
