Frigid Airmass to Bring Significantly Colder Temperatures; Snow Continues Downwind of the Great Lakes

A frigid cold airmass will bring significantly colder weather across the eastern two thirds of the country early this week. Record low temperatures are expected in the Southeast by Tuesday morning.   • It was a warm November with temperatures averaging about 3 to 6 degrees above average.
  • Precipitation was above average for most places, though snow was below average due to the warm temperatures.
  • Fall 2024 was warm and dry on average, with temperatures averaging around 3 to 7 degrees above average and precipitation 2 to 4 inches below average for most places.
  • The latest 8-14 day climate outlook favors above normal temperatures and near normal precipitation leading up to the holidays.
  • The December-February outlook is slightly tilted towards below normal temperatures and above normal precipitation.
