September 2016 was warmer than normal with below normal precipitation at Duluth MN
The average temperature for September was 59.9 degrees which was 4.3 degrees above the normal of 55.6 degrees making this tied for the 10th warmest September in station history. The highest temperature for the month was 80 degrees on the 5th. The lowest temperature was 40 degrees on the 14th. No daily temperature records were broken for the month. Five days had average temperatures below normal.
September 2016 was below normal for precipitation with a total of 3.52 inches of precipitation recorded for the month. This was 0.59 inches below the normal of 4.11 inches. The greatest amount of precipitation in a 24 hour period occurred on the 5th when 1.24 inches was recorded. At least a trace of precipitation was recorded on 19 days. At least 0.01 inches of precipitation fell on 15 days. At least 0.10 inches of precipitation fell on 6 days. At least 0.50 inches of precipitation fell on 3 days. At least 1 inch fell on 1 day. The average temperature for September was 57.1 degrees which was 3.5 degrees above the normal of 53.6 degrees making this tied for the 12th warmest September in station history. The highest temperature for the month was 76 degrees on the 3rd, 4th and on the 11th. The lowest temperature was 33 degrees on the 14th. No daily temperature records were broken for the month. Four days had average temperatures below normal.
September 2016 was above normal for precipitation with a total of 3.33 inches of precipitation recorded for the month. This was 0.34 inches above the normal of 2.99 inches. The greatest amount of precipitation in a 24 hour period occurred on the 4th to the 5th when 1.01 inches was recorded. At least a trace of precipitation was recorded on 18 days.
