NWS Weather Radio Upgrade

NWS Duluth implemented a major upgrade to our NOAA Weather Radio hardware and software today (Monday, June 27th), replacing the previous system (CRS) with the new one (BMH). The new system is more closely integrated with the software we use to look at weather data and make our forecasts (called AWIPS), and should be more reliable. This new system also comes with an upgraded voice, named Paul - you can test out the new voice at https://neospeech.com/. (Don't worry if it mispronounces something - we can make adjustments on our local system to make sure everything is pronounced correctly!) No need to make any changes on your radio - the new system is already up and running smoothly!

Please send any questions you have about our new weather radio system and pronunciation requests to nws.duluth@noaa.gov
