Thunderstorms from the Plains into the Central Appalachians; Heavy Rain in the Central Gulf Coast; Heat Across Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely from from northeast New Mexico/Southeast Colorado, eastward into the Central Plains through the Central Appalachians. Slow moving low to bring heavy rainfall to the Central Gulf Coast into the weekend. Overview

A strong winter storm moved through the Northland Thursday, February 20th, through Friday the 21st. This storm brought rapidly accumulating snow, in excess of a foot in many areas. In addition, the snow was followed by strong winds with widespread gusts over 30 mph. Although the main period of accumulating snow ended Friday morning, the gusty winds persisted through the evening.
