Heavy Snow in the Central/Southern Rockies; Below Average Temperatures in the Central and Eastern US

Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in the central/southern Rockies and adjacent High Plains today. Lake-enhanced snowfall is expected downwind of the Great Lakes today. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible this evening into tonight across the western Gulf Coast states. Overview

A strong winter storm moved through the Northland Thursday, February 20th, through Friday the 21st. This storm brought rapidly accumulating snow, in excess of a foot in many areas. In addition, the snow was followed by strong winds with widespread gusts over 30 mph. Although the main period of accumulating snow ended Friday morning, the gusty winds persisted through the evening.
