Dangerous Heat Continues from the Ohio Valley into the Mid-Atlantic; Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding in New Mexico

Extremely dangerous heat persists through Thursday with widespread daily temperature records. The most significant cumulative heat impacts are anticipated across the Mid-Atlantic through Thursday and eastern Ohio Valley through Friday. Higher than normal tides may lead to minor flooding around Humboldt Bay tonight and possibly Wednesday night. A coastal flood advisory has been issued between 9PM and 1AM tonight for tonight's high tide. Stronger currents are also possible within the bay.
Temperatures in the interior will increase over the weekend and the risk for heat-related illness will increase. Drink plenty of water, wear light-colored clothing, take frequent breaks in the shade and use sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or higher to protect your skin from UV rays.
