Winter weather hazards in effect
Here is the latest snow forecast for southern New Mexico and far west Texas for Friday through Sunday. Best chances for snow will be in the Sacramento Mountains where locations like Cloudcroft could see 6 to 10 inches of snow. Lowland locations well east of El Paso could see up to 2 inches of snow, while El Paso and Las Cruces will see very little to no accumulations.

One more day of fair weather is expected for Thursday. Rain chances begin as early as Thursday evening for the Bootheel before gradually spreading northeast throughout the overnight hours into Friday.
The best chance for snow this weekend will be in area mountains, especially the Sacramento Mountains. We could see some light snow accumulations in the lowlands, mainly east of the Rio Grande.
Winter Storm Severity Index through Sunday morning. Minor travel impacts expected across far eastern areas with localized areas of moderate impacts in the Sacramento Mtns. Slick/icy conditions can be expected Saturday into Sunday along US 62/180 in Hudspeth County, and Highways 70 and 82 in the Sacs.
