Flooding Threat Along the Gulf Coast, Southern Rockies and High Plains; Cooler Weather in the Central and Eastern U.S.

Strong thunderstorms may bring excessive rainfall and flooding over parts of the northern Gulf Coast today and over parts of the southern Rockies into the High Plains today through the weekend. Southern New Mexico and Far West Texas have a variety of weather from month to month.  Conditions can range from extreme drought to heavy flooding rains; from record-breaking heat to bone-chilling cold.  Below, you will find past weather highlights from the area that the NWS office in Santa Teresa, New Mexico covers.  This area includes the following counties in New Mexico: Hidalgo, Grant, Luna, Sierra, Doña Ana and Otero and the following counties in Texas: El Paso and Hudspeth.
