The Heat Advisory has been extended through Wednesday and expanded to include most of Dona Ana and Luna counties.
Our hot and dry streak will continue for the next several days, and only slowly loosen its grip heading into the weekend.
With a long stretch of hot temperatures expected this week, remember to drink plenty of water and take breaks if working or playing outside.
Here's a look at rainfall for July. You can see most areas of southwest NM and far west TX had near or above normal rainfall which will help with the current drought. However, the areas in the highest(worst) drought conditions in Hidalgo and most of Grant counties were well below normal. The beginning of this month is looking very hot and dry, but some hints maybe the monsoon moisture will push into AZ and far western NM sometime next week.
