Extreme Heat and Severe Thunderstorms Today

Extreme heat continues today from the central Plains to the lower Mississippi River Valley, over southeast Montana, and from southern California into the Southwest Deserts. Heat Advisory is in effect today and Tuesday for the south-central lowlands, including El Paso, TX and Las Cruces, NM. Also, Hudspeth County including the Lower Valley and Salt Flats/Dell City. High Temperatures will range from 103° to 107°. These hot temperatures may lead to heat-related illnesses.
The heat continues with high temperatures running 5 to 10 degrees above average. Our winds will be light and variable. There is a slight chance for a thunderstorm, mainly in area mountains.
With the return of triple digit temperatures in the lowlands remember to stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks if your outside. Check on the elderly and your neighbors and bring your pets inside or provide plenty of shade and water for them.
