The oppressive heat wave impacting the much of the area will persist through today, in advance of a cold front moving across the Northern Plains. The combination of heat and humidity will cause afternoon heat indices to soar into the 95 to 100 degree range. Those with outdoor activities should remember to keep hydrated and take frequent breaks to help cool down. Travelers and shoppers with children are encouraged to check the back seat, making sure no one is left behind to overheat inside a parked vehicle. Be smart during this heat wave and take care of those most susceptable to these dangerous temperatures. It's important to know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
