National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

More opportunities for rain are expected today, with the best rain chances occurring east of the I-35 corridor where the highest moisture levels reside. Mainly showers are expected, but a few isolated storms with brief heavy rain are possible. High temperatures will range from the lower to mid 80s in the east to the lower to mid 90s in the west.
Showers and storms which are expected to develop along a weak front across Oklahoma have a decent chance of pushing south of the Red River this evening. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds and frequent lightning. Activity should diminish as it crosses the I- 20 corridor at or shortly after midnight. Otherwise, scattered showers will linger across the eastern counties during the overnight hours.
Friday will be rain-free, very hot, and humid. Highs will be in the 90s east to over 100 degrees west. The increasing heat will combine with high humidity for heat indices topping 105 degrees on across a few areas Friday afternoon. Prepare accordingly by wearing light- colored and light-weight clothing, staying hydrated, and avoiding overexposure or overexertion outdoors.
The near-record heat will continue Saturday with highs ranging from the middle 90s east to over 100 degrees west. The combination of heat and humidity will result in afternoon heat index values between 105 and 107 degrees across a few areas. Prepare accordingly by wearing light-colored and light-weight clothing, staying hydrated, and avoiding overexposure or overexertion outdoors.
Hot days coming up... Be sure to know the terminology and don't forget these heat safety rules. For additional information check out this heat safety website: www.weather.gov/heat
Scattered thunderstorms will develop near a stationary front late Saturday afternoon and possibly form into a storm complex Saturday night. This complex would move southeast and could bring a few strong storms to parts of North Texas overnight.
