Heavy Rainfall Across the Southwest, Mid-Atlantic and Florida; Fire Weather Concerns in the Northwest and Alaska

Heavy to excessive rainfall may bring flooding to parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia today. Recently burned areas will be particularly vulnerable to flash flooding. Overview

A significant weather event occurred on Friday, December 2nd, 2022. A potent cold front moved across the area, bringing high winds, a wall of dust, and dangerous fire weather conditions. In addition, winds ahead of the front picked up, bringing additional fire weather concerns as well as dust storm conditions. Numerous watches, warnings, and advisories were issued, including High Wind Warnings, Dust Storm Warnings, Blowing Dust Warnings, and Red Flag Warnings.
