Overview

An eastward moving super cell thunderstorm near Goodland merged with a northward moving supercell south of Brewster. As the storms merged a brief tornado formed one mile southwest of Edson near I-70. The tornado caused no damage and remained stationary.

The eastward moving storm continued onward and increased in coverage. Wind reports of up to 88 MPH occurred over Thomas County, with the highest gust reported on the east side of Colby.

In Sheridan County the storm continued to produce straight-line wind damage. This included 45 broken electric poles, 54 overturned irrigation pivots, and 11 damaged or removed grain bins.

Most of the wind damage occurred from Hoxie north to CR 90N.

Radar loop of the wind straight-line wind event.  The red colors on the right pane indicate winds moving away from the radar; the green colors indicate winds moving toward the radar.  Brighter colors indicate higher wind speeds.  Dust storm conditions were reported in Gove County as the thunderstorm winds moved through.
