Prolonged Atmospheric River Will Impact the Northwest Early this Week

A weather system in the Pacific Northwest will produce rain throughout the day, before a potent atmospheric river produces a prolonged round of heavy rainfall, widespread urban and river flooding, and high elevation snow to the region Monday through Wednesday. Largely in part to the low level clouds, much of the San Joaquin Valley has failed to exceed 60 degrees for the past two weeks. High pressure building over the region late this week brings a moderate probability for a return to these temperatures. Probabilities are greater at higher elevations out of the cloud deck.
