Tuesday, October 13, 2026: Critical Fire Danger is in store later this week, for Thursday and Friday, in the Kern County Mountains due to gusty east to northeast winds combined with minimum relative humidity below 25 percent. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for the Kern County Mountains from 6 AM on Thursday (OCT 15) through 10 PM on Friday (OCT 16).
A disturbance moving through the West Coast will allow for the development of strong winds across much of Central California. While humidity levels have improved over portions of the Sierra Nevada, very dry conditions persist across Kern County. The combination of strong winds and dry conditions will increase the threat of fire starts across the area of Concern. These conditions will exist on Thursday and Friday (October 15-16).
Tuesday, October 13, 2026: Another warmup is in store later this week into the weekend. There is now a moderate to high probability of high temperatures at least 90 degrees Friday into the weekend, mainly in the San Joaquin Valley.
