Severe Thunderstorm and Heavy Rainfall Potential Continues

A low pressure center tracking across the Great Lakes and its associated cold front extending across the Southern Plains will focus occasional showers and thunderstorms through tonight. A few of these thunderstorms may become severe alongside heavy rainfall that may cause flash flooding; Portions of the Southern Plains would be the greatest threat for these hazards through tonight. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will continue until early this evening, or around sunset. Frequent dangerous lightning, brief heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and small hail will accompany any thunderstorms that develop. Take shelter immediately if you hear thunder. When thunder roars, go indoors!
Thursday, May 1st, 2025 @ 1:55 PM PDT - A Wind Advisory is in effect for the following areas: Kern County desert floor east of the slopes from 2 PM PDT Saturday until 2 AM PDT Sunday and the Mojave Desert slopes from 2 PM PDT Saturday until 8 AM PDT Sunday. Westerly winds 15-30 mph with gusts 45-50 mph are expected this weekend.
