Heavy Great Lakes Snow through Friday; Extreme Cold and Potential for Major Winter Storm Late Week into this Weekend

Multiple clipper systems will bring cold temperatures and enhance lake-effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes. An arctic blast will bring frigid temperatures accompanied with gusty winds that may lead to dangerous wind chills beginning in the Northern Plains Thursday before expanding to the South and East. Winter Storm

Snow overspread much of the region Wednesday night and continued through Thursday morning. The heaviest snow fell across parts of southwest and south central Ohio where 5 to 6 inch snow amounts were common. 4 to 5 inch snow amounts were fairly widespread across southeast Indiana and northern Kentucky. Along and just south of Interstate 70, snowfall amounts were generally in the 2 to 4 inch range.
