Dangerous Heat in the Central and Eastern U.S.; Severe Thunderstorms in the Central U.S. and Northeast; Critical Fire Weather in the Four Corners

Dangerous, record-breaking heat will intensify across most of the central and eastern U.S this week. Heat indices will likely exceed 100 degrees. Severe thunderstorms are forecast from parts of the central High Plains into the Upper Midwest, and across parts of the Northeast. Tornado Outbreak and Severe Weather


On Friday afternoon, March 2, 2012, a total of 12 tornadoes touched down in the NWS Wilmington OH area of responsibility, ranging from EF0 to EF4 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
 
The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio has put together a special commemorative webpage and a series of retrospective videos with staff members reflecting on their experiences before, during, and after the March 2nd tornado outbreak.
