Excessive Rainfall and Tropical Storm in the South; Severe Thunderstorms in the Midwest

Excessive rainfall may produce considerable, potentially life-threatening, flooding across the lower Mississippi River Valley and central Great Lakes region through tonight. Tropical Storm Arthur will move northeastward along the Texas coast today and then move inland over southwestern Louisiana by tonight. Snow

A band of powdery snow moved through the I-71 corridor on Tuesday morning producing 1-4" of accumulation. Many snowfall observers noted the very light, fluffy nature of the snow. Some snow-to-water ratios were measured as high as 35:1 with the snow, which is a much lighter-density snow than normal for the area.
