Heavy Rain and Mountain Snow Lingers in California; Winter Storm Impacting the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S.

An atmospheric river will wind down through today across California with lingering heavy rainfall, heavy mountain snow, and gusty winds. A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will cause hazardous travel conditions for the Great Lakes into the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England today through Saturday morning. Severe thunderstorms hit parts of Central Indiana during the evening hours of September 25, 2007.  Click on the map below for more information on the event.  Below are two snapshot radar images depicting the bow segment as it traversed across southern Madison County.  Note the higher wind velocities of 50-55 knots that were a part of the downburst winds from the thunderstorm line.
