These images from the Brandon, MS doppler radar show the tornadic thunderstorm at 11:18 am on April 24th. At this particular time, the tornado was approaching the Omega community, where an industrial plant was heavily damaged. Yazoo City
These images from the Brandon, MS doppler radar show the tornadic thunderstorm at 12:14 pm on April 24th. At this time, the storm was moving across Yazoo City. A "debris ball", or an area of higher reflectivity resulting from significant tornado debris being lifted into the atmosphere, is evident on the 0.5° base reflectivity image on the left. The 0.5° storm relative velocity image on the right shows intense rotation in the storm. Click on the thumbnail below for a higher resolution image.
Holmes County
These images from the Brandon, MS doppler radar show the tornadic thunderstorm at 12:46 pm on April 24th. At this point, the tornado is producing EF-4 damage as it nears I-55 and the city of Durant. A debris ball is still noted in the 0.5° base reflectivity imagery on the left. The coinciding 0.5° storm relative velocity image on the right also still shows a tight area of intense rotation in the storm. Click on the thumbnail below for a higher resolution image.
