Effective at 6 AM CST on Wednesday March 1st 2023, the National Weather Service will increase the flood stages to match the location change, datum change to NAVD 88 USGS datum, and a recent flood survey at the Noxubee River forecast point at Macon (MCNM6). With the new real-time gaging information from the USGS, the minor and moderate flood stage categories will be raised 2 feet while the major flood category will be raised 1.5 feet. Forecasts & information will be available on the internet at https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=jan&gage=mcnm6 and through all standard NWS dissemination methods.

The new flood categories for Noxubee River at Macon, MS:

Action Stage            From 25 ft   to 27 ft 
Minor Flood Stage       From 26 ft   to 28 ft 
Moderate Flood Stage    From 33 ft   to 35 ft 
Major Flood Stage       From 38.5 ft to 37 ft

These new flood stages and categories will be referenced in flood warnings, flood statements, and flood advisories for this location.
