A clear and cold Sunday morning across the region allows a nice comparison between our legacy GOES-15 satellite data and the preliminary GOES-16 data.  The image below compares the infrared data for both satellites.  Warmer locations show up as darker on each, with the various rivers and lakes standing out nicely.  The GOES-16 data has a better spatial resolution, so rivers and lakes also show up more prominently.  More subtle differences can be picked out with the urban and rural locations, most notably the Louisville and Lexington warm spots.
