Here at the National Weather Service in Louisville, we monitor area webcams to see various interesting weather phenomena.  During this time of year, they are useful in monitoring the areal extent of fog formation as well as when precipitation is making it to the ground.  In the winter time, they are used to find where the rain/snow transition line is as well as if snow is accumulating.  At other times of the year, such as the special night of the Fourth of July, they caught several area fireworks shows.  The first image below is from a neighborhood in northeast Frankfort.

The webcam at Eastern Kentucky University, in Richmond, caught a line of storms (left image below) moving through the hour before a couple of images with fireworks.  For many people the weather improved in time for fireworks shows, with most areas rain free during the peak time for fireworks.

Here are some other miscellaneous fireworks pictures caught on area webcams:  First from Georgetown College, then from the Northside YMCA in Lexington, and last from WTVF (Nashville) webcam in Hopkinsville.

Do you have a webcam?  Please let us know!

Here are a couple of other interesting images from the region.  The first was tweeted by Mayor Greg Fischer of a partial rainbow at the Louisville City FC game.  The second was posted by Brian Bell of fireworks in Sellersburg with sunset.
