Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. One of two inaugural meetings of the Central Sub-committee of the Kentucky Weather Preparedness Committee was held at Golden Corral in Elizabethtown, KY to discuss how various agencies and entities could partner to create a more Weather Ready Nation. Agencies and entities involved included NWS personnel, State Emergency Management, County Emergency Management, Corps of Engineers, KYTC, Television Media, and Kentucky Hospital Association.
