CHECK YOUR NWR frequently today if you live in DUBOIS or PERRY Counties in Indiana

The Evansville NWR transmitter (KIG76) - programmed out of NWS Paducah - has been experiencing telecommunications problems since Wednesday morning. Telecommunications technicians have been working on the issue, and at the time of this posting, the transmitter IS on the air,  However, with a Slight Risk of severe weather today - as a precaution - residents of the following Indiana counties served by NWS Louisville in southern Indiana who regularly monitor NWR Evansville are encouraged to frequently check their NWR to ensure a signal is being received.  If you do NOT receive a signal at any time today, you can change your radio's frequency to an alternate from the list below, which already serve your area:

County Frequency  Transmitter Call sign Transmitter Location Programming Office Warning Office
Dubois 162.500 MHz WWG72 Georgia, IN NWS Paducah NWS Lousville
Perry 162.475 MHz KZZ61 Whitesville, KY NWS Paducah NWS Louisville

If you were already monitoring one of these alternate sites, no action is necessary.

If the Evansville NWR transmitter should go offline again today, these alternate transmitters/frequencies will be your best source for Warnings.  Keep in mind, however, that poor reception of an any frequency may keep your NWR receivers from automatically sounding if a Warning is issued.  For that reason, you should practice extra diligence in monitoring the weather near you to maintain a high weather situatuion awareness.
