Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall for the Southwest; Heat Spreads Across the Center of the Nation

Moisture will continue to move into areas of the West. This will increase showers and thunderstorms coverage and intensity, with the risk of flash flooding and damaging wind gusts. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held this past Wednesday to celebrate the installation of Kentucky Mesonet's latest automated weather station. The site is located north of Lexington at the University of Kentucky's Spindletop Farm and is a joint venture between Western Kentucky University and UK. Data from the site includes temperature, relative humidity, wind, barometric pressure, solar radiation, soil temperature, precipitation, and a live webcam. Data is accessible from kymesonet.org or by using their app.
