Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in the Southeast, Montana, and Iowa; Lowell Begins to Impact Hawaii

Strong thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy rain are expected across portions of the Southeast. Thunderstorms may produce large hail across portions of Montana. Heavy rainfall could produce flash flooding across Iowa and vulnerable areas in Utah. Lowell will bring heavy rain, dangerous swells and rip currents to portions of Hawaii. The record breaking heat will continue through late week before a cold front brings much more seasonable temperatures. In the meantime, many daily high temperature records will break. In addition, the all-time hottest October records will also likely break.

A historic September is in the books. It was the driest month (of ANY month) on record at Louisville and Lexington. It was also the hottest September on record at Louisville and Lexington, and the 3rd hottest September at Bowling Green.
