Dangerous Heat and Possible Flooding

Dangerous heat will persist across the Southwest U.S. through Saturday with daytime highs of 110-115°F. Extreme Heat Warnings remain in effect. If it seems a little warm for May, then you are right. While we've only had a few record warm individual days, the persistence of the above-normal temperatures through the month means that on average, 2018 has been the warmest May on record, so far, for Louisville and Lexington, with Bowling Green ranking second. The forecast through the end of the month continues to call for warm conditions. The 7-day forecast is for above normal averages. The Climate Prediction Center calls for the persistent heat to continue into June. The image below shows their 8-14 day forecast calling for a better chance for those above normal temperatures.
