Areas of Dangerous Heat and Severe Thunderstorms

Dangerous heat will persist across the Southwest U.S. through Friday with daytime highs of 110-115°F. Heat across the southern Plains will briefly ease to near-normal by late week before returning over much of the Plains into next week. Showers and storms end this morning. Then more showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and/or tonight. Some of the storms late today and tonight may be severe with damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. In addition, a flash flood watch is in effect for south-central Indiana and much of central Kentucky (except parts of south-central KY). Periods of very heavy rain could cause local flash flooding late today or tonight. Keep aware of the weather situation today and tonight, and have an action plan in case severe weather or flash flooding threatens your area!
