Heavy Rain in the Mid-Atlantic; Severe Thunderstorms in the Northern Plains; Critical Fire in the West

Locally heavy rain and flash flooding will be possible today into tonight near the Mid-Atlantic/Carolina coast. Storms with large hail and severe wind gusts are expected across parts of the central and northern Plains into the upper Mississippi Valley. Showers and storms end this morning. Then more showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and/or tonight. Some of the storms late today and tonight may be severe with damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. In addition, a flash flood watch is in effect for south-central Indiana and much of central Kentucky (except parts of south-central KY). Periods of very heavy rain could cause local flash flooding late today or tonight. Keep aware of the weather situation today and tonight, and have an action plan in case severe weather or flash flooding threatens your area!
