Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in the Southern Plains; Heat Continues in the West

Strong to severe thunderstorms may bring areas of excessive rainfall and flooding over parts of the southern Plains today through Friday. Hot to dangerously hot temperatures are forecast across portions of the Pacific Northwest and southern Great Basin today. Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM) Joe Sullivan attended a press conference where Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer declared the city snow ready. The press conference was attended by members of the Louisville Metro Snow Team which includes transportation cabinets, public works, school officials and students, airport snow removal, and members of the fire department. Joe predicts near normal snowfall amounts this upcoming winter, mostly in the form of small events.
