Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall for the Southwest; Heat Spreads Across the Center of the Nation

Moisture will continue to move into areas of the West. This will increase showers and thunderstorms coverage and intensity, with the risk of flash flooding and damaging wind gusts. On April 16, Bellarmine University in Louisville became the sixth university in Kentucky to be recognized as a StormReady University. Bellarmine is the Commonwealth's first private StormReady university. The Office of Public Safety has aligned the University's severe weather response with national best practices, and developed a comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan that could be a model for campus preparedness everywhere.
