Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. Heat and humidity will return for the end of the week and continue through the weekend. Highs in the low 90s with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s will be possible Friday and Saturday. Make sure to stay hydrated and look for shade if you are out and about during the hottest parts of the day.
